In this tutorial we show you how to duplicate a WordPress post or WordPress page. You can watch the 2 minute video or you can follow the step by step instructions below the video.
Updated on August 25, 2015: The author of the plugin mentioned in the video has changed since we recorded the video. The author’s name is now Lopo in case you are searching for the author’s name. Also, the plugin page states that it is “Compatible up to 3.8.10″ but we have successfully used the Plugin in WordPress 4.3. You can click on the following link Duplicate Post to download the plugin from the WordPress plugin directory.
Step 1: Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
Step 2: Install the Plugin: Click on “Plugins” on the left side of your dashboard. Then Click on Add New, then inside the search box, type “duplicate post” and then click on “Search Plugins”. You should see the plugin called Duplicate Post by Lopo appear on the page. Then underneath the plugin name, click on “Install Now”. Then click on “OK” to confirm you want to install the plugin. And finally click on “Activate Plugin”.
Step 3: Let’s duplicate a post: Click on “Posts” on the left side of the dashboard. Place the cursor underneath the name of the post to be duplicated. You will see a menu with options. If you click on the “Clone” option you will copy the post or page without opening it. If you click on “New Draft” option you will copy the post or page and also open it in the editor. Click on the “New Draft” option. Once you do that you see that a new duplicate post is created in DRAFT mode.
We suggest that you go over everything in the new post before publishing it. For example, if you have an SEO plugin, you may want to change all the SEO related fields. When done editing, click on “Save Draft” or “Publish” option.
So there you have it. You can duplicate a post or page in less than a minute. Please leave us a comment on YouTube and share this video with your friends on social media. Also sign up for our mailing list to get notified of new videos and tutorials.
